Jacob's 13th Birthday

Today, June 27th, Jacob had his 13th birthday. I can’t get over the fact that I now have a teenager. Am I old enough to have a teenager? Not really but we won’t go there. He has grown up so much. Matt and I got out the measuring tape this morning and he is 5’7. That’s 4 inches taller than me and 2 inches shorter than Matt. How does that happen? It won’t be long and he will be taller than Matt. What happen to my little boy?

For his birthday, we took Jacob, my Dad, Connie and our cousin Debbie to La Nopalera (our favorite Mexican restaurant) for lunch today. It was so good! I had stopped at Walmart and got him a cake and had them write “Happy 13th Birthday Jacob” on it. That’s when I realized that my baby was 13 already. I almost shed a tear right there in the Walmart bakery. I am so emotional these days!!

Matt and Jacob just left for a boys night out. They are starting out at the local batting cages and dinner and then off to St. Augustine for a trip to Potter’s Wax Museum and an 8pm Ghost Tour. I think he will have a great time. I will try to post pictures of their adventure soon.

A Note to My Baby

Dearest Jacob,

I can remember the day you were born like it was yesterday. It's hard to believe that it's been 13 years already. There is always a special place in a mother's heart for all her children but there is just something about your first baby. You were such a good baby. Your Dad and I were so in love with you from the moment we first saw you. What a blessing you are to us! We love you and are so proud of the young man you are becoming.

The Sherman Family 6/17/2007

Last Sunday, June 17th, was not only Father's Day but it was also Baby Dedication at our church. This was the first time we had only dedicated one baby. Both other times we had dedicated two each time. Luke did a really good job. He slept the whole time. I remember Noah cried through the service when he was dedicated. After church I took Matt and my dad out for lunch at Johnny Carinos.
